Check and make a palindrome

Palindrome checking rules

A palindrome reads the same forward and backward. Standard mode compares letters and numbers after ignoring case, punctuation, spacing, and accents. Exact mode compares every visible character, which is useful when testing a program string.

Two generator methods

The shortest-append method preserves the original text and adds only the reverse of the part not already covered by a palindromic suffix. The mirrored method simply appends the entire reversed input, so it always works but is usually longer.

Frequently asked questions

Is “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama” a palindrome?

Yes in standard mode because punctuation, spaces, and case are ignored.

Does the tool upload my text?

No. Checking and generation happen locally in your browser.
