percentage = marks scored ÷ total marks × 100

Calculate marks percentage

12th marks, CBSE, and overall percentage

The arithmetic is the same: add the marks that your board or institution says should be included, add their corresponding maximum marks, divide, and multiply by 100. The calculator does not decide best-of-five rules, practical weighting, optional subjects, grade classification, or admissions eligibility.

Unequal subject totals

If one paper is out of 50 and another is out of 100, a simple average of their percentages gives them equal weight. Combining marks gives the paper out of 100 twice the influence, which is usually the intended aggregate when every mark has equal value.
