Calculate and plan attendance
How to calculate attendance percentage
If you attended 36 of 42 classes, calculate 36 ÷ 42 × 100 = 85.714…. Rounded to one decimal place, attendance is 85.7%. Cancelled sessions should be handled according to your institution's definition of “classes held.”
Planning future classes
When you attend another class, both attended and total increase by one. When you miss, only total increases. The planner tests whole future-class counts rather than incorrectly adding a percentage directly.
Frequently asked questions
Is 75% always the required attendance?
No. Requirements and treatment of medical, excused, lab, or cancelled sessions vary. Enter your institution's actual threshold.
Should I average subject percentages?
Only if your institution does. Combining raw attended and held counts gives a class-weighted overall percentage; a simple subject average weights every subject equally.
Can attendance exceed 100%?
No. The calculator rejects an attended count greater than the total held.
