How text becomes ASCII art
The banner renderer maps each supported letter onto a five-row bitmap and replaces filled cells with your chosen printable character. The image converter samples brightness on a small canvas and maps darker or lighter pixels across a character ramp.
Copy and paste without breaking alignment
ASCII art depends on fixed-width spacing. Paste the output into a terminal, code editor, Markdown code block, or another monospace field. Proportional fonts and automatic line wrapping can distort the picture.
Frequently asked questions
Does the generator use only ASCII?
The default banner uses printable ASCII characters. If you enter a non-ASCII fill symbol, the result becomes Unicode text art.
Why is image art vertically compressed?
Text cells are usually taller than they are wide, so the converter reduces row count to preserve the source image's apparent proportions.
