7th CPC Salary Calculator

Select only the allowances that apply to you. HRA defaults to X-city 30%; choose Y, Z, or no HRA if appropriate.

How to use the 7th Pay Matrix calculator

  1. Select your pay level from your appointment order or payslip.
  2. Select the cell containing your current basic pay.
  3. Confirm the DA rate for the effective date you need.
  4. Select X, Y, Z, or no HRA according to your entitlement and accommodation.
  5. Enter your applicable Transport Allowance, other allowances, and known deductions.

The final “after selected deductions” figure is not guaranteed take-home pay because income tax, CGHS, insurance, licence fees, recoveries, and department-specific items vary by employee.

How the monthly estimate is calculated

Gross estimate = basic pay + DA + HRA + Transport Allowance + DA on Transport Allowance + other allowances entered.

After selected deductions = gross estimate − optional employee NPS estimate − other deductions entered.

The calculator rounds percentage-based rupee amounts to the nearest rupee. Actual payroll rounding and arrear treatment follow the applicable government order and your payroll office.

DA and HRA assumptions used

Dearness Allowance

The default is 60% of basic pay, effective January 1, 2026. The input remains editable because a calculation for an earlier effective date may require another rate, and future government orders may revise it.

House Rent Allowance

The 2017 allowance decision provided that HRA would move to 30%, 20%, and 10% for X, Y, and Z cities when DA crossed 50%. These are the selectable rates shown here. Employees in government accommodation or otherwise not receiving HRA should choose “No HRA.” City classification and eligibility still need to be confirmed from official instructions.

NPS

The optional employee deduction uses 10% of basic pay plus DA. It is only a simplified employee-contribution estimate. Pension scheme coverage, employer contribution, tax treatment, and alternatives such as UPS require separate consideration.

How the next pay matrix cell is found

Annual progression within a level is approximately 3%, rounded to the nearest ₹100, subject to the final cell published for that level. The calculator reports the next listed cell; it does not decide your increment date, eligibility, promotion fixation, MACP treatment, or disciplinary consequences.

Promotion usually requires fixation in the higher level under applicable rules, not simply moving one cell forward in the current level.

Frequently asked questions

What DA rate does this calculator use?

It defaults to 60%, approved for Central Government employees with effect from January 1, 2026. You can edit it for another effective period.

Does this calculate exact in-hand salary?

No. It calculates a transparent estimate from the fields shown. Income tax and employee-specific or department-specific deductions are not inferred.

What is the difference between level and cell?

The level reflects the post’s place in the pay hierarchy. Cells are progressive basic-pay stages within that level.

Is the 8th Pay Commission included?

No. This page calculates the implemented Seventh CPC civilian pay matrix. It does not speculate about future fitment or an unimplemented matrix.

Can state-government employees use it?

Only if their state has adopted the same relevant values and rules. State matrices, DA dates, HRA, and deductions may differ.
